An "Insight Portrait" is a perfect way to mark a special occasion. Karen had a watercolour painting done that was chock full of treasures to celebrate their tenth anniversary. This painting has a place of honour in their living room and captures the tone of connection and strong family values that are alive in this home.

To celebrate their twentieth anniversary Karen wanted to have another painting created but one that captured the story of the family as it was today - not a repetition of the past  - rather the story continued.

This Insight Portrait" was painted to hang at the cottage - a sanctuary that links this couple to their roots in Northern Ontario. The overall theme captured in the arrow is one of transition as the kids enter their teens and gain their independence. Each element in the piece links to something important - their love of playing music together, images of the cottage, the kids- together as a family and also following their own pursuits, their appreciation of fine wine, and extended family ties.

The process of developing the painting was conducted by email with photos of sketches and various stages in the process fined tuned from inbox to inbox. The final result resides the front hall with the arrow pointing visitors toward the lake. It is the perfect warm welcome to the heart of the family.
